Residents must follow the city's fertilizer ordinance, which bans fertilizer use from May 15 to November 1 (the rainy season) to prevent harmful nutrient runoff into Biscayne Bay.
Through a partnership with the Surfrider Foundation, the city has supported the installation of 250 backyard composting bins for homeowners to help divert food waste.
Additionally, Residents can pick up free bags of compost for their personal gardens at the Miami Beach Compost Hub on 84th Street and Collins Avenue.
During Turtle Season (From March 1 to October 31), residents must turn off beachfront lights visible from the shore, and should not approach nesting turtles.
Turtle Fest is an annual educational event happening in April that features beach
cleanups and interactive games focused on marine life! Learn more about Miami Beach's Turtle Season by participating in Turtle Fest!
Residential property owners can apply for up to $20,000 in funding through the Private Property Adaptation (PPA) Program.
